P.O. Box 352 August 20, 1983 Manager Easter Foods 1802 Avenue H Fort Madison, Iowa 52627 Dear Sir: On September 30, October 1st and 2nd, 1983, we, along with the Keokuk and Burlington Branches of the NAACP, will sponsor the annual convention for the Iowa-Nebraska Conference. We, in the Fort Madison area, are selling ads for our souvenir program booklet to merchants in this community. Those persons living in Burlington and Keokuk are doing the same thing in their communities. It has been brought to my attention that a member of our Branch did approach someone who appeared when she asked for the manager. I believe she was told that she might call a number in Des Moines to make a request. We do not feel that this is really proper and would ask that the call be made by you. If you still feel that this is something that you don't want to do, I would like to ask you, to please let me know, and also to talk to a couple of the members of this Branch of the NAACP. We like very much to support those who support us and would like to make certain that there is no misunderstanding. Sincerely, Virginia Harper President - Fort Madison, Branch 1st Vice President - Iowa-Nebraska State Conference
