April 28, 1972 Dear Jo, John, Kirk, Becky, Natalie - It was so sweet to get your letter when I was in Norway. Yet I reward the sweetness with long neglect. I looked longingly at the pleasurable correspondence, yet a full work load and a continuing need from more and more sleep to keep vigor has kept me [illegible] busy. Extracurricular stuff has been heavy. You complain about conservative church, boredom. We do, too, except that I glory in the feeling of acceptance among the blacks and enjoy church. Social Concerns Commission makes up for the lack of church action. I am secretary and am always behind in my work. For instance since Thursday meeting I have a letter to write denouncing the bombing escalation to newspapers + to Pres. Nixon; another to commend the state church body's stand for elimination of handguns (in Miss., where people glory in war & power, carrying guns in plain sight in their cars & trucks), and turning out the monthly news sheet - this time on election reforms in the city. Publicity chairman for AAUW keeps me writing news items. They, too, have a news sheet - one weekend I did both the Social Concerns & the AAUW ones, or WSCS board but they're not to busifying. You see why I don't write my own letters? But I'm to have the summer months off, to return here in September. Going to live with my widowed sisters, typing [illegible] for our family genealogy from all the stuff on 8 generations I collected in Norway and here in U.S. the last year. But that's fun. Love, May
