The University of Iowa News Service (Mississippi students to arrive at U of I Sunday--2) The first program brought 18 Rust students to Iowa. Four of those original 18 will be back this year as regularly enrolled students in the U of I summer session, and the other 31 as part of the intensive instruction program. "Many of the students have maintained a regular correspondence with their host families," Huntley said. MSP now has become a part of RILEEH (Rust, Iowa, LeMoyne for Expanding Educational Horizons), a project aimed at helping the two predominately Negro college upgrade their academic and cultural life. Formal programs of assistance and cooperation between the University and the two colleges have been prepared for submission to the federal government under Title III of the Higher education Act of 1965. Supporters of the RILEEH project hope to begin several assistance programs in advance of federal assistance, although they expect that Title III grants will ultimately expand and complete what has begun out of local initiative. This year's Rust College summer project in being directed by Harold Duerksen, assistant director of the U of I school of Religion. -30-
