You can go to the Family Planning Clinic, get referred by a physician to the Urology Department at University Hospital, or contact the Crisis Center for a list of doctors willing to perform the operation. HACAP FAMILY PLANNING Hawkeye Area Community Action Program 221 So. Linn St. Iowa City 338-3696 Anyone who fall into OEO poverty guidelines (usually $3800 per year for family of four) can use this service. HACAP pays for everything: pap smear, and device or medicine. The woman is referred to the University Hospital or to a private doctor depending on choice. STUDENT HEALTH -- BIRTH CONTROL 356-2247 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. If you ask for contraceptives at Student Health, you will be referred to one of the following places at University Hospital. 1) Obstetrics/Gynecology Dept., $7.50 fee and patient must pay for her own medicine or device chosen. 2) Family Planning Clinic, free, see elsewhere. MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL SERVICES DEPT. UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL Room C-103 356-2207 Provides medical and social work services for in-patients and out-patients, and offers counseling and referals to the appropriate clinic or agency for pregnant women- married or unmarried. CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLINIC University Hospital School Iowa City 353-4825 For children under 17 who have mental or psychological problems. Referral service or short term therapy if no local resources available. MENTAL HEALTH CENTER 302 So. Gilbert St. Iowa City 338-7884 or 338-7885 Room 208 Cedar County Court House Tipton 886-2248 8:30-12:00; 1:00-5:30 weekdays Very busy people, so make an appointment. You might have to wait a few days before seeing anyone. Well equipped with a psychiatrist, a psychiatric social worker, and a clinical psychologist to consult, evaluate and treat you in a very warm atmosphere. The fee is according to what one can pay. (or hours arranged according to the need) Service is free to all students, faculty, staff and spouses. Staffed by professionally trained counselors and psychologists working voluntarily in counseling interviews (vocational counseling, personal adjustment); individual testing (general aptitude, personal traits); occupational and educational information (occupational trends, job qualifications); study skills (efficient learning techniques.)
