CONSUMER INFORMATION The Public Library has a consumer information center on the main floor which includes: Consumer Reports, Buying Guide, Consumer Bulletin and Everybody's Money (all good consumer oriented magazines). There are also bulletins with quality comparisons and and price guides on specific products. Copies of a free governmental brochure called "Consumer Product Information" are at the library. This brochure is an index of federal publications (usually free or very cheap) that you can send for on how to buy and care for different products. (Example: Facts About Microwave Oven Radiation--Free Prenatal Care--20 [cents]) The library also gets Consumer Legislative Monthly Report which is an up-to-date listing of the bills currently being considered in Congress concerning consumer issues. (Example: Senate S 1461 Truth in Advertising Act: a bill to require the documentation of claims concerning safety, performance, etc. Introduced 4/1/71 by Mc Govern and Moss.)
