Specially designed for adults who want to finish high school. The basic courses are free (General Studies and Basic Adult Education); others cost. Summerhill Bulletin is a magazine which carries articles concerning Children's Liuberation; 2. A teacher training program which sees teaching as supporting and inspiring a place where kids can be themselves; 3. publishes a list of school sfree of charge. YWCA 215 Iowa Ave. Iowa City An organization for all people which focuses on community activities and organizes a series of adult education classes (Bridge, Self Protection for Women, etc.) At present there are no overnight facilities, but there will be in the future. See Women's Center Schools are a continuation of toilet training. Taking an exam is like taking a shit. You hold it in for weeks, memorizing, just waiting for the right time. Then the time comes, and you sit on the toilet. AH! UM! It feels so good. You shit it right back on schedule for the grade. When the exams are over, you got a load off your mind. You got rid of all the shit you clogged your poor brain with. You can finally relax. The paper you write your exam on is toilet paper. The students and teachers form a community, set up the courses, choose any teaching method they develop, and create the atmosphere of the place. Every effort is made to aid members in formulating a personal education program, and the members are encouraged to study some area intensively, individually or in groups. Costs: Resident member- $150 per semester (not including rent); $350 (rent included); Non-resident member- $130 per semester. Apply any time during the year. Exceptional grades are not a prerequisite as much as a willingness to work hard and get along with your colleagues. Scholarships and grants-in-aid are given when money is available. INDEPENDENT STUDY AND TRAVEL ABROAD The Intensive Studies Institute 530 No. Clinton St. Iowa City, 351-8836 Study-travel in Europe and the Middle East through this non-profit organization for six to ten weeks in a camping and kitchen equipped VW Kombi bus. Each bus carries 8 students and 1 driver-guide-instructor. An itinerary is planned out but need not be followed, and members can leave the group at will if 21 or with parent' permission. Cost is between $700 and $850. TUTORING PROGRAM Hawkeye Area Community Action Program 700 So.
