General Information
 The University of Iowa, with a total  enrollment of approximately 23,000 students, ,is located in eastern Iowas, a half-day's drive from such major midwestern cities as Chicago, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Saint Louis. For over one hundred and thirty years, the University has served the state of Iowas and has obtained a national reputation for being one of the top universities in the country.

Presently over 800 Black students from across the nation and the world are enrolled at the University. Blacks are represented at almost every level of study, with 148 in various fields on the graduate level and over 80 in the University's professional schools.

The University's academic year consists of two semesters and an eight-week summer session.

The University is a Big Ten institution, with excellent undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, the medical, dental and law colleges have attained national reputations for excellence.
