Activities Programming at the House includes many diverse aspects of Black culture as it relates to Iowas City and America. Generally all programs at the House are free. Creativity Workshops allow brothers and sisters the chance to show their artistic creativity. Students are encouraged to share their skills and knowledge with those who may wish to learn. The workshops include painting, drawing, macrame, dance, and many other skills and hobbies. [photo to right] [photo to left] Poetry workshops showcase young new poets as they share their works and interpretations of many of the older, great Black poets with each other ans anyone else who may be interested in poetry. Time is spent developing the writing and oratorical abilities of each member of the group. In addition, members of the group exchange their works to see how others will interpret them. In Photography Workshops, students and community alike are given the opportunity to learn the finer aspects of using cameras. IN addition, because of the darkroom facilities at the House, we are able to offer a course in the development and processing of film, as well as printing and enlarging pictures. [photo to right]
