The Black Children's Workshop allows young brothers and sisters the opportunity to learn more about Black people and also to develop their own artistic talents. The workshop includes films, games, a story hour, and anything else that may interest the children. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 are encouraged to learn more about Black people and themselves, while still enjoying the pleasures of being young. Other activities at the House include receptions for guests of the University, dinners, parties, a chess/backgammon night, a game night, movies, displays, discussions, meetings, and study sessions. [photo to right] [photo to left] Academic classes are also taught at the House, for credit, by members of the Afro-American Studies Department. In addition, the House has a library composed of more than 600 volumes of cultural books, as well as over 15 Black magazines and newspapers. Books may be checked out anytime, simply by signing a check-out form. The library is open to the public, whenever the House is open.
