FAN 15 atic novel of tomorrow. "......An interesting article on television by Milton A. Stoddard appears in the March ESQUIRE. The author drags in the old inspiration of stf, giving the credit this time to Arthur B. Reeves ...... 50 Miles Up-- Peter van Dresser's interesting prophecy—for those who missed it appears in the current issue of YOUTH TODAY, as a reprint, this magazine Is a digest mag ...... TRUE MYSTIC SCIENCE has its emaciated 4th Issue on the stands now---however it remains sans interest to the fantasy fan... Much comment and praise is due JW Campbell. Jr. on his publication of UNKNOWN. This magazine is one of the best on the newsstands today, with artwork outstanding ...... The other new magazine of the "other" type: STRANGE STORIES has contained several good stories—-and the artwork is above the average. Especially that of Binder and Finlay......I prophecy that the new artist--the one S&S has obtained to illustrate L.S. DeCamp's story in the April UNKNOWN, Rogers, is going to go places. Gladney much like Schneeman on the covers—has a good cover technique. Too Dold was never given a go at the AS-F covers, also Jack Binder. I once made mention of AS-F procuring Finlay but JWC did not---TWS and companion mag did. And Finlay is very good. Fact is TWS seems to have the inside track on all the illustrators ... Here are a few guesses, shots at random, that I would like to see: AMAZING, unless it employs a drastic change, will not last much longer. Covers are terrible, the photo cover was its best bet ... SCIENCE FICTION doesn't put out three issues! One of the present authors at hand, or a new one to come, will hand us, within the year, a yarn that'll be more popular than Weinbaum's, more discussed than REBIRTH, and more powerful than Skylark. All in fitting with the new era ... In tune with the times, and a touch of the bizarre, is the book rapidly ascending to fame: THE STRANGE DEATH OF ADOLF HITLER. It is the chronicle of Hitler's death, about a year ago, and the actions precipitated ... THE DRUMS OF FU MANCHU, Sax Rohmer's CONTINUED ON 19
