FAN 19 latest serial to begin in the April 1st issue of Colliers, will bring back a character long a favorite of weird fans ...... ESQUIRE'S April issue contains two bits that will find their way to the lighthearted fantasy fan. The first by the brilliant satirist and humorist, Parke Cummings: FLYING AS A HOBBY is a dissertation on the use of wings! Delightful! The second by Percival Wilde: THE EXTREME AIRINESS OF DUTON LANG. All about a college professor who weighed less and less until he floated away ... A new magazine, THE SCORPION, will be of interest to those who devour all the others in the field. Those being Horror, Terror, Operator 5, etc. JUNGLE STORIES #2 made its appearance with a (again) Wesso'ish cover and Tarzan'ish contents. ... Edwin C. Hill has an intensely Interesting article along the lines of Charles Fort, in the April issue of LISTENERS DIGEST entitled "WHERE DO THEY GO?" ... RAL WHAT'S NEW ABOUT "NEW FANDOM" ? --CONT FROM 6 to keep quiet and let the blame be shifted to other than themselves. However, there is one thing we Michelists can do. We can expose the crooked workings of NEW FANDOM and the welching attitudes of the editors and let those who are interested in the facts take heed, and if our prophecies are fulfilled (which, to tell the truth, we rather fear they will, though we'd be glad to be wrong for once) it will be only because our past experience and our knowledge of how reaction works, makes such prophecies very easy. Were NEW FANDOM really new, were It an honest association of stf hobbyists, we would be glad to give our support to it. There is a very definite place for sincere fan-hobbying, futile as it may be, because only full experience with the very best that fan-hobbying has to offer can finally convince the intelligent fan that it, as a form of escape from the realities without, is entirely inadequate. ...................
