TBTN Septenber 15th Then we talked about the contact sheets. This is where we got silly. I think because initially the contact stuff looks just [[underlined]] too [[underlined]] complicated. But calmer minds prevailed like Amy's and Colette's (but only after amy blew up a little and insisted that we pay attention to her, which we galdly did). We decided to go through the whole list and assign numbers indicating what kind of contact each entry would recieve. The kinds of contact and corresponding numbers are as follows: #1. This contact is mainly to solicit money, the letter [[underlined]] may [[underlined]] come in the form of a personal contact but that may vary with women's energy's. This list is expected to be mostly women's (not dykes) businesses and professional women. #2. This is to invite and encourage women to participate in the planning of the rally either by suggestions for programming, actual participation in programming or in criticism. We believed that this list would mainly be to women and organizations that we felt would offer a perspective other than ours. Particularly, issue oriented groups, groups/women of color, and international organizations. #3. This letter would be to inform only about the event. Sending it to women and such who might not otherwise know of the event of would have contact with larger populations of women Like beauty salons. Church groups, sororities. #4. Leaflet, for a general mailing of anybody we think we might have missed. Carol has offered the services of her typing machine which can interject various paragraphs in various ways. WE were happy about this development. Tess will approach various non-profit orgs about the use of their mailing labels. This was a hard task. And is in no way finished. Undoubtedly ripe for a committes Also it would be nice to do this earlier in the planning but it rests on knowing when and where and stuff like that. Perhaps in the future one whole meeting whould be to do this, and nothing else. Copies of the contact sheet will be included in this file. Purpose staement: Because the contacts worked better with one or two women starting them we decided that one or two women would write a rough draft of the purpose statement and the whole committee would go over it at the next meeting. The purpose statement is something else which will go inside the contact letter. The next meeting will be: Weds 22 at 5:30 Tentative agenda is Purpose statement T-shirts, location decision, $$$$$, committees.
