[[handwritten]] 6 per side in pairs [[handwritten]] SECURITY MEET SATURDAY AT COLLEGE GREEN PARK AT 6:30 (6:45 at the very latest: women are coming early). BRING FLASHLIGHTS, WHISTLES AND PAPER AND PEN [[underlined]] WORK IN PAIRS WHEN APPROACHING MEN AND THE PRESS [[underlined]] (work with more than two if you need to) SUGGESTIONS OF THINGS TO SAY TO MEN: This is not an educational rally. There is nothing here for you." "Men sensitive to the issue of violence against women will support this event "by going to the wesley house and discussing the matter with other men." "Women are gathered to talk to other women about the violence done against us, your presence here will make it impossible for women to speak out." The above is a rough outline of things to be said. Decide for yourself how assertive you want to be and start practicing a few lines. Keep it brief and be assertive but don't invite debate or attack. TO the Press: "A Press conference was held today and another will be held tomorrow. We will answer your questions then. Cameras and tape recorders are not allowed in the park due to the sensitive nature of the problem." If it's a male reporter tell him men aren't welcome. Women can come in, but only with out their cameras. To women with male children: Go easy, be sensitive. "Hi, glad you came. I'm concerned that this isn't the right place for your son. The women are here to speak out against the violence men do. There will be alot of anger directed at men and I don't think he (child) should be exposed, near, etc. We have child care available and I'd be glad to arrange for transportation to take him there, and for you to pick him up after the rally."
