Things that cannot be rationalized, rationalization is not what they are about. They are slimy things. It is these dishes ; [let's talk about this] when they are in the sink, staring, murky white eye with no blink. Perhaps there's a spoon in one. The handle rests on the edge of the rim. Only the faint outline of the spoon below the water can be seen. It is reminiscent [ This correlative structure has a mock formality ( and a stock phrasing ) That reinforces the humorous contrast between the generalisations and the particular example.] of soggy toast crusts left by my sister, soaking in the sugary milk and left-behind Wheaties. Presently it is manifested by dirty cat food dishes. The cats with which I live eat the finest food: "The Science Diet for Cats", Yet, they are not known for licking the bowl clean. There is always some crusty residue, some less delectable chunk, awash with cat spittle, that has been left, to dry throughout the night and now must be soaked in order to come clean.
