THE FANTASITE.....19 Donn Brazier (continued) Damon "HVB" Knight is a swell cartoonist. Has a bold stroke which I like. ------------------------ Harry Schmarje, Muscatine, Iowa Scienti-Comics received. Hectographing rather bad in places, as you know. Contents page is nice, rather light tho. Editorials - O.K. Scienti-Cartoons - more of 'em. Page 26 - arm on girl is rather thin. ((The entire picture did not come out the way I wanted it too. PB)) Back cover - fine. Inside back cover - also fine. Am in favor of the small town fan club. ______________________ LEW MARTIN, Denver, Colorado Dear Edgar: I take it your name is Edgar since you sign it Ed, but it myt be Edward - would you straighten me out on it? I lyk your cover. Paul is good. Keep him by all means but lets have Deld do one now and then. Heh, heh. ((It ain't funny - PB)) The contents page is good, perhaps confusing in spots but a clever idea. ((I'm a clever guy - PB)) Editorial is swell. Boy-o-boy The Alchemist must be good if what you say is true. Methinks I'll try one. "When Sthanee Wakes" is super!!! The story is good, the illustrations are better. Best illustration is on page seven -- guess which ???? ((There are six of 'em. How'm I to know which one???PB)) Second best is on the top of page 33 showing the beast destroying the castle. That, my friend, is art. Inevitable Necessity is good -- not too good --not too bad. Kinda lyk the idea. The Scienti-Cartoons section is tops. Plees continue it. Ha ha ho ho ho ho----was that a super dinger by Martin. Lets have more from him. (Subtle --no? ---NO!) That krud Bronson sure messed my idea up. Egad, hang him from a yard arm, Mr. Christian. (A la Cap Bligh in mutiny on The Bounty) ((We know, lew. PB)) ----the funniest one there is the Kimball Kinnison one. I had to hold my sides. he he. Is Criss Cross U, if so,his story stinks!! (Nice guy. PB)) Ha ha, the Martian Princess joke is a good'n. You wouldn't be alone, pal, no sir. Pleze Ye Martin along with ye Ed. ((Every man for him self )) Book review is good, very good satire. Pool results are good and the editorial notes salted thru the mag is swell. Better'n some hackneyed filler. Pictorial Interpretations is also tops ---more staire, the not in suh subtle form althoguh the other is certainly not subtle. The bak cover is wonderful -- lesshave more, good knight yes!! I want my phil of knight and then everything will be all wright so knight yes!! Oooooooooooooooh! Things that are most noticeable ---you are not ina rut. You are fast improving the rag- More pages, better quality, larger selection, small size, and best of all -- a Martin cartoon. Heh heh. ______________________ BOB JONES, Columbus, Ohio I'm sorry for the delay of this letter but school opened recently......And I have been seen trudging my weary way toward the campus every morning. The are bearing down on us poor students and between studies I have very little time to do anything but eating and sleeping, which are very necessary to my welfare. Your gala second issue went over with a bang at this end....altho as you said, the hektoing could have been better....a doggoned lot better...but that ccan pass for I realize the trouble one can have with a hektograph. I believe I liked the first issue better as far as the strip went, and it did go a long way, for I think that an original continuity is better than illustrating a story. And again the drawing isn't as good as in the first issue. I don't like the typing in the strip....just do your own lettering with pen and ink. Cris Cross's story, although a fine piece of work, was out of place in this magazine. Don't you think so? ((That's beside the point now, but how do you like THE FANTASITE, Bob? PB)) ....((More to this letter but not enough space to include it...as shame causes the rest consisted of orkids! PB))
