TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION AND PROPOSED RESOLUTIONS (The IFF officials and Convention Committee, meeting on final adjustment of matters bearing upon the Chicon, decided upon the following:) Topics for Discussion and proposed Resolutions are to be submitted in writing (on mimeographed forms which will be available at the door) to the Convention Chairman before the closing of the first official business session. (See program booklet). Each ’topic for discussion’ or ’proposed resolution’ must bear the name of the sponsor and ten additional signatures. The Convention Chairman will then appoint a Committee chairman, who will in turn appoint four other committeemen. This committee will then retire and frame a formal Resolution; which is to be presented and read to the convention assembly the following day, by the committee chairman. The text of the Resolution shall embody the reasons for, and all arguments pertaining to, its introduction to the convention assembly. A limited time for debate and questioning shall be allowed to each proposed resolution depending upon its relative importance to fandom; during which time no member of that committee may have the floor. Questions asked by the convention assembly may be answered by the chairman for the resolution under consideration. Upon expiration of allotted time for discussion, a vote will be taken of the convention assembly, accepting or rejecting the Resolution at hand. If accepted, the Resolution will then become a part of the Chicon Platform for fandom-at-large. -signed- Mark Reinsberg (Convention Committee Chairman) Bob Tucker (Director: IFF) _____________________________ _____________________________ HAVE YOU A CONVENTION MAGAZINE? Special convention magazines, or convention issues of regular fan magazines are most welcome. The Convention committee has worked out the following in connection with them: If you cannot get to Chicago, ship your magazine to Bob Tucker, Box 260, Bloomington, Ill. (not later than August 25); or send it along with a fan who is attending. Please specify which of the following two arrangements is to be with your magazine: Fans may either donate their convention magazine outright to the Convention, with returns from sales going into the Convention treasury; -or- Fans may place their magazine on sale at the Convention, displayed on special tables which will be placed advantageously. When this is done, the Convention Committee asks that ten percent (10%) of the proceeds be given them; a charge for “table space”, if you will. We request your full cooperation in this matter. Thank you.
