Hello, Hoosiers! [handwritten] To those persons who have received a copy of the letter (reprinted in this issue) sent out a couple of months ago, and who have not been heard from, this bulletin is in the nature of a "follow-up". that is to say, it gives a more detailed account of the ideas proposed in the letter. Secondly, it shows that the organization actually has formed and is not merely something to be hoped for, but whose success is hardly to be expected. As matters now stand, we have a dozen members (Aug. 1) This is an excellent beginning. I would like to point out here at the IFA is not just trying to drum up a large membership. We are building our organization upon a solid foundation. A foundation consisting of fantasy readers who enjoy the literature as such and like to exchange viewpoints on it with other persons of similar tastes. If you're at all interested, drop me a line. I'll be only too glad to extend any further information at my disposal. This issue of the magazine is only a sign of what will come when the IFA really gets going. In the future the number of pages will be greatly increased to accomodate the numerous articles, stories and columns of interest. Morrie Jenkinson, a swell amateur (as yet) artist, has shown a fine spirit, typical of the IFA, in taking the time and trouble to turn out the illustrations in this issue. I know he'd be very glad to receive any suggestions or comments re. his work. Constructive comment will only work to the betterment of his drawings. Then, too, I'd like to express my appreciation of the co-operation rendered by the Literature, Science, and Hobbies Club. The members' generous financial support has helped make it possible to issue this magazine, inasmuch as the IFA has no revenues coming in at this time. It is becoming quite evident that the first, and very important, meeting and "get-together" of the IFA will be held in conjunction with the Chicago Science Fiction Convention on Sept. 1 & 2. Much of the business of final, detailed organization will be transacted here. Aims and policies of the IFA will be thrashed out in full, with every member having a voice in the discussion. Decisions will be reached on such matters as dues, offices, length of tenure, etc. Most of the members are availing themselves of this great opportunity to attend such a gathering. As such a meeting will not be held in this part of the country until, at least, 1944 or 1945, it would be a crime to miss it id it's at all humanly possible to attend. You'll have an opportunity to meet and talk with many of the authors whose stories you read. (E.E. "Skylark" Smith is to be guest of honor at a banquet. $1.50 a plate. This is to help pay the expenses of the convention.) There will be talks given on various phases of fantasy, the magazines, etc. You will have an opportunity to procure original illustrations and manuscripts at the auction. I could run on for ages, but if you want any more information, just write to the Corresponding-Secretary, 3156 Cambridge Ave., Chicago, Ill. Sincerely, [Fred?] [Dikty?] [Hand written
