Whenever in the past we published as straight news some item which seemed to reflect upon the propriety of some action on the part of a science fiction fan organization or group, or otherwise crusade for better conditions in the fan or pro stfield, the party or group in question always found some opportunity to libel this news paper by publishing statements to the effect that our news was incorrect, based on terror, biased, or otherwise twisted. Another notable fact concerning these statements was that they almost invariably apepared in some competing news organ that hoped to gain any circulation that FANTASY NEWS might thereby lose. At one time these statements concerning the error or bias (so-called) of items in FN became so rife, and from that time on, it has been our standard procedure to confirm every single news item that has appeared in this paper by tracing it direct to its source. This new policy has brought its reward. In our guest editorial for last issue, we were very proud to publish a statement by Raymond A Palmer, Editor of AMAZING STORIES, for which we are exceedingly grateful. Mr. Palmer said, and we believe he knows what he is talking about: "I believe in the news FANTASY NEWS dishes out." We wish to point out this statement to the science fiction world in general and to all "active"
