FANTASY NEWS - THE WEEKLY STF NEWSPAPER One -o- June 26, 1938 -o- 3 issues for 10c HUMOROUS SCIENCE FICTION HIT ON LAST NIGHTS FIRST NIGHTER PROGRAM on STATION WEAF (Special to FN) With the 7th issue of Helios, Sam Hoskowitz will start publishing it large size, 8 1/2" xll". The cover will present a drawing of its editor, Sam Hoskowitz. The contents page will read something like this: Convention Aspects; Who's Who in Rochester by L.B Farsaci; Is Science Fiction Heading For Another Golden Age? by J.S. Avery; The Female Element in Science Fiction by D. Heart; Astounding's First Mutant by R.G. Thompson; Comments From The Clientele; Reader's Opinios; Fantastic and Editorial. All illustrations are by Taurasi and Marconette. --------------------------------------- FIRST ISSUE OF THE NUCLEUS LOST IN THE MAILS ------------------------------ At the last report, the first issue of Kuslan's F.A.P.A. mag, The Nucleus, has been lost in the mails, when ASTOUDING AGAIN CHANGES PUBLICATION DATE ---------------------------------- Starting with its July issue, ASTOUNDIG will be published the fourtn Friday of the month. This, is hoped, will be the final change. During the last few issues this magazine has been coming out ar a differerent date each month. The reason is that Street & Smith have been trwying to find a chemper way of sending out Astounding. After trying out a number of ways, it seems that the 4th Friday of the month is the solution to the problem. --------------------------------------- NEXT JEDDARA TO HAVE CLUB PHOTO ----------------------- The next issue of Jerdara, official organ of the Grenter New York Chapter, will contain a snapshot of most of the club members. This photo is supplied by Hebert Gudket. Another item of interest in this issue is an article on interplanetary travel by Thos. S. Gardner, well --------------------------------------- HUMOROUS SCIENCE FICTION HIT ON LAST NIGHT'S FIRST NIGHTER PROGRAM on STATION WEAF --------------------------------------- By Millie Taurasi --------------------------------------- On the weekly First Nighter Program of June 24, 1938 was present a play written by Athony Wayne called, 'Oh Say Can you See', a very humerous STF Play. It concerns a young doctor, played by Les Tremaine, who is trying to invent a new type of X ray machine. His assistance, a young girl, played by Barbara Loddy, tries to help him without success. For his guinia pig he uses his half-witted, swing crazy, super assistance called, Muddles, who is the laugh getter of the program. When the machine is tried out again, to their horror and manusement they find Muddles has disappeared. An inquirey is made and they find that he is invisable. At once, our hero stumbles on the idea
