completely over the heads of the general reader. That, stated badly, may not sound encouraging to fans, but a careful survey of other pulp fiction should leave room for optimism. Science-Fiction appeals mainly to intelligent and active imagination, plus an interest in colorful adventure. So far as I know, no science-fiction yarn I've used in Future would be automatically excluded from the magazine by the new policy. -- R W Lowndes, editor Future & S-F Quarterly ---------------------------------- Hell Fire By Reitrof enough to help me start it - even though it is in some old building - and that I will give you a great part of my time in obtaining DONATIONS - a lathe here - a dynamo there - some technical instrument elsewhere - we will make the impossible." Do you believe it? What do you think? O hell! to be continued next issue ---------------------------------------- The MFS Clubnotes will be back next issue, having been crowded out by just a little from this issue. Which reminds us: We've contacted Robinson, Bronson and have meant to get in touch with Wilimczyk, someone in contact with the Michifans, someone, mayhap Unger, for the Stforumeetings, p'raps Fortier or Wright for the Oakland group, and Sinn for the Washington Society. All of which covers every fan club we can think of. If we've left out one, we'd like to have you get in touch with us, for it's our intention to present each issue (altho not necessarily) clubnotes from the various fan-groups. (Bronson covers LSSFS, you see). Perhaps devote a special section to clubnotes, and we'd like co-operation from youse guys! Henry Ackermann, publisher of Wavelength, announces the Award of Merit prize sponsored by his magazine. The prize for 1943 goes to Mr Frank Wilimczyk, Jr, editor of Paradox, for his novel idea of publishing a fanzine devoted solely to time and time-travel. Mr Wilinczyk has been sent the award which, this year, is an efficient, brand new, quality stapling machine. -- Henry A Ackermann We're supposed to say published bi-weekly, but e're doubtful. The issue before this was printed only two days after the one before that (which followed a week after the preceding issue), and this is again a week after last issue. So you figure it out; we can't... 5c for 2 issues, same prices for bakc issues, which are: #3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9 - only ones available. Subscriptions, submission in any form and inquiries all appreciated.
