READER'S COLUMN FJA's INDIGESTION COLUMN: Dear Di: (Short for "Diane"---sugggestion, if somewhat farfetcht, for nickname for FANTASY DIGEST.) I almost died lafing (to begin punning rite away on your new name) at Tucker's "Who's Zoo in Bloomington." I should have remembered Roberto's ribtickling abilitys & refraind from reading an atickle by him on a st-car, where the passengers must've thot I was wacky (as how rite they are!), making strangling noises in my throat when attempting to surpress irrepressible lafter. Morojo started to read Hoy's artickle while waiting for a Technocracy meeting to start but I quickly recommended she substitute something like Korshak's considering where she was & what was bound to hapn! -- It was very interesting, living over in writing the events in which I participated, as reported by Erle. As in any attempt to recall so much, there were 2 or 3 tiny errors, wich I shoud not bother about correcting; however, in the interest of accuracy I think one must b noted: Jno D Clark was not the purchaser of the Weinbaum manuscript, "Dawn of Flame". & it obviously follows that I did not make a deal with him to buy it---for $3 or any price. A Benj. Keller---lead letter in Aug Ast---bought the coveted collector's item for $2.75. He's agreed to sell me it for the same sum (tho I cannot fathom y as I offerd him $3.50 off the bat) after he has read it & had it for awhile. "FANews" by Mark Reinsberg always will be a welcome feature. I [illegible] add one more to his 3 of 5 of us who own the priceless editions [illegible] Weinbaum original & that is Julius Schwartx. (5th is Darrow, Ed.) [Illegible] in Philadelphia was fine. -- Taroon Ceth -- one of odd-[illegible]. Respelling it, I get Technocrat---rite! (Rite!) [Illegible] "Technocracy" I get...the impression it is one [illegible] omnipresent fillers. Yes, I know the article came (to [illegible]) it was forwarded I understand. Bx 6475 Met. Sta. seems [illegible] Science Fiction Stories [illegible] where any one from [illegible] to Pogo may be contacted & we receive many confidential notices to forward material for fans who, for reasons Foo alone knows, wish to notify the Editor some amateur isy mag....Eugene Makson did not indicate that Jules Verne's real name was M. Clehwit. Incidentally, I wonder how any readers pronounce JVS' nom de plume correctly? English speaking readers, that is; French, of course, automatically knows [illegible] riming with [illegible] no significance. -- More "DOC" LOWNDES speaks. Late as usual, but here are comments on the last issue of FD. What could be read of it was quite enjoyable and I hope you'll be able to get better results from your mimeo next issue. I notice that the most important event at the alleged "world stf convention" was very quickly passed over by your correspondent, Korshak. Fortunately for fandom, a large section of the non-New York fans are N̲o̲t̲ dismissing the matter lightly, as an incident, over and done with, at all. Fandom is uniting in a way, and to an extent, that I would have declared unbelievable, to see that petty "dictators" are effectively unmasked and dethroned and that no fans, or their ideas, are barred from any convention or conference in the future. And as far as putting the Futurians and their ideas in the doghouse, as one fan put it, the result of the actions of July 2nd, 1939 has been to increase, greatly, the personal esteem the Futurians had won heretofore, and to arouse the interest in their ideas, both relating to Fandom, and to the world outside. Quotes HARRY WARNER, JR: Topping everything this time in a two-way tie are "Who's Who in Philly" and "Memoirs of a New York Trip". Madle's article was most interesting, and best of all, complete. Let's have
