EDITORIAL PAGES Our first issue (printed) seems to have gone over with a bang. But that is not all we are going to do. That was just the start. With this second issue our little publication is beginning to take form. We're mighty proud of this magazine and are going to try to justify all that our many new friends hope of it. H.P. LOVECRAFT WRITES: "Just received THE PHANTAGRAPH, and must congratulate you on an excellent start. That article by C.W. Lonsdell is just what has been needed for years. I've pointed out time and again that the junk in the science pulps is simply a mess of absurb and extravagant hack formulae without substance and convincingness- - - -just puerile words. I hope to see further instalments of this article. Your statement that I was once director of the Providence Observatory flabbergasted me a bit, insomuch as there has never been any 'Providence Observatory'! Then after a moment, it dawned on me that you must have seen one of my kid publications of 30 or more years ago-- -when I used to call my own small telescope and other astronomical apparatus 'THE PROVIDENCE OBSERVATORY' and publish [by hectograph or typewriter] important looking 'bulletins' and 'annuals'. Thus do the exaggerations of youth bear misleading fruit in old age. Glad Tremaine is favorable to your society and publication. All good wishes." Thanks, Mr. Lovecraft and we're sorry we let ourselves be [tried?] on that term. H. Koenig also has a correction to make: "Congratulations on the first issue of THE PHANTAGRAPH. It's a fine start and you two deserve a lot of credit for your efforts. The issue was fairly well rounded-out and there was sufficient variety in the contents so to please most of us. THE TRAVELER was an interesting bit of fantasy. Sun-Spots was lively and informative. However, in the interest of accuracy, I'd like to correct the opening sentence in Sun-Spots 'TALES OF THE UNCANNY' is only No. 6 of 'THE MASTERTHRILLER' series, a quarterly magazine. It was the only issue devoted to Uncanny stories. Incidently it cotains only
