So i have resigned myself to being an “almost” man. Having so resigned myself, I find that I can be quite contented with it, even though every so often something crops up which makes me wish I was otherwise. But by the time one has reached the half-century mark, if he be at all introspective 8and lord, HOW introspective I am!) he has to settle on some personal philosophy which will give him as much personal satisfaction and happiness from life as possible. (Yes, I realize it is probably a “compensation” escape.) So I still find an endless enthusiasm and joy in life; and a tremendous “kick” out of whatever I am doing; and a satisfaction in a lifelived as best I feel I can live it; even though o now see endless mistakes o have made in the past; chances I’ve muffed, and things I now were done exactly wrong. I honestly believe that I deserve to have said of me, “This guy did his durnedest!” Perhaps that is not so far from true success, after all! What do YOU think of it? ******* ***** *** * *** ***** ******* -9-
