I don't believe it should be spent in any way even suggestive of politics or America's foreign affairs, and this to my mind includes the famine in Europe. Those of us who feel deeply about this matter will make their own contributions in their own way. I do think something like the terrible state of our mental hospitals is a matter where Vanguardifs might well be concerned, let the chips fall where they belong. Others probably have more effectual methods of spending in mind ... or perhaps some ideas about what we could do to help P. M. in its fight against the "shame of the states". In any case, let's talk about it. My vote is thumbs down on the annual.
     The other Knight contribution,        , is notable, naturally the thing with the unpronounceable Greek name that reads Thersites in English. As one of the generally uncombed, I approve. We read the "Iliad" in high school, but I hated my English teacher that term, so it doesn't make much impression.
     And while we're on the subject of Blish, "Tusche, Judy says at this point, with grudging admiration". I have thought often and wistfully of silk-screen covers myself, and I'm delighted to see even his far-from-perfect first attempt. A little more experience ought to get worthwhile results. 
     It was a little irritating to read Jim's favorite fillers while he inveighed against their use. However, it was worth struggling through the body of the essay to get to the last paragraph, where, as in"Dupin" and "SFOHR", he had hidden the meat of his meaning. 

     If this doesn't sound like a true member of the notorious Knight-Shaw-Zissman faction at work, leave me get on to the Renascence announcement, which, as far as I am concerned, outdoes even Renascence itself in brash and braggart bunkum. Almost, I suspect, it was put out for the express purpose of preventing me, personally, from reading Ranascence .. or might suspect it if I thought "the editors" had time for consideration of this humble person. I could on like this for hours .. it makes me sore, it does!

     I should like, while I'm throwing my disapproval around, to apologize in advance of criticism for the appearance and last-minute air of Temporary, which was, after all, just that. I hope I will have no reason, in the future, to submit anything so ill-prepared for publication.

     Aside from my own messy job, it was a lovely mailing, not only legible, but mostly readable. Gives more?
