We are requesting all our friends to write their senators and congressmen to demand federal protection Besides the above, they should be told that five people have been killed in the Southwest since January in connection with voting and that we plan no demonstrations, marches, sin/ins, etc. We do not want to get arrested and fill jails. We only want to be left in peace to try to open up the Negro community. Even if the Ford Foundation wanted to give 10 million dollars to Mississippi they could not do it with out reinforcing the system. They would not know how to get 10 million into the Negro communities. We want to open the communities so there will be some way to funnell resources into them. This can't now be done because of the real problem of segregation everywhere.
