First Bulletin {Drawing of woman reading "First Bulletin Alert!" poster hanging on wall. Top right half of page} News of Orientation week is one of the first bulletins from SUI requesting your presence for a week designed especially for you. By attending all orientation activities you will be able to draw a more complete picture of your new life at SUI. Make the most of this opportunity. The week starts out on Sunday, September 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Field House with all new undergraduates meeting together for opening introductions. Here you will meet your Orientation group and leaders, and after a short meeting you will be entertained in the homes of staff or faculty members for informal discussions about campus life in general-plus refreshments. This is a rewarding experience, for through it you have an opportunity to ask questions and meet new students. The next two nights you will enjoy the President's Open House and the church group of your choice. Dresses, heels, and gloves are appropriate for your individual introduction to the President and Mrs. Hancher and other campus dignitaries. The President's house provides an opportunity for you to feel elegant while munching on a cookie served on a silver tray in a room lit by an elaborate chandelier. Upstairs you will visit the traditional settings of the home. On the alternate night, slip into casual campus wear for an informal evening with members of your church group who are anxiously looking forward to meeting you. 10
