Foreign Student Committee Do you enjoy trying out the foods of other lands? Would you enjoy meeting the people of other countries and learning to prepare their native foods? If so, then work on the Foreign Student Committee is the thing for YOU if you're interested in meeting and getting acquainted with lots of new friends-from all over the world! The Committee is composed of eight to ten girls, selected from applications submitted to AWS in the spring. These girls work throughout the next year in the planning and carrying out of activities which will bring the American and foreign students closer together at SUI. Stressing understanding and fellowship, this group sponsors a series of dinners. Each meal is prepared by students from a different country or region with a menu which is typical of that area. The Committee members watch over their shoulders, learning how to cook all the foods on the menu, and learning a few words of the language at the same time. In this atmosphere the Committee members and the foreign students become well acquainted during the course of the year. Many other activities are a part of this Committee's work-discussions, folk singing, picnics, and the Foreign Student Festival. If you have a sincere interest in people and a desire to broaden your cultural foundation, the Foreign Student Committee is the activity to join! Spinster's Spree Since Leap Year comes but once every four years, AWS has made it possible for all coeds to snag that fellow on the "off-years!" The annual Spinster's Spree all-University dance is your chance to do the asking and the planning. With the tables turned, it becomes the annual event in the mind of every SUI man. Committee membership in planning Spinster's Spree is fun and an outlet for your talents in decorating, entertaining, hostessing, theme coordination, and many other areas. Under the general chairman are her respective chairmen and the Committee members. YOU are eligible to apply for membership. Should you be one of the lucky ones chosen, you'll have your turn to show those "hidden" abilities. That's when the fun begins-you'll have your fingers in the pie of one of the largest social events of the year! University Sing University Sing is part of Mother's Day Weekend which gives all of you with a special interest in choral music a chance to show off! Each year, every housing unit is invited 14
