This committee is relatively new and needs you to make it stronger and more effective. FOREIGN STUDENT COMMITTEE The Foreign Student Committee works directly with approximately 350 foreign students from over fifty countries who now attend the U of I. The AWS Committee joins in all activities sponsored by the International Center Board and the International Center Association, such as parties, picnics, discussion groups, sports activities, American seminars, and Sunday suppers. In addition, AWS formally sponsored two Saturday dinners this year, one representing Nigeria and the other Pakistan in menu and tradition. The American and foreign students of the U of I work together in planning these dinners and programs. If you have a sincere interest in people and a desire to broaden your cultural foundation, the Foreign Student Committee is the activity to join! INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL The International Festival, sponsored by AWS and the International Center, gives the foreign students here an opportunity to share a portion of their cultures in an evening of exhibits and stage presentations, centered around a different theme each year. Working together in preparation for the festival, foreign students and American students learn to know each other better, thus furthering international relations. SPINSTER'S SPREE Since Leap Year comes but once every four years, AWS has made it possible for all coeds to land that guy annually, at the Spinster's Spree all-University turn-about dance. Committee membership in planning Spinster's Spree is fun and an outlet for your talents in decorating, entertaining, hostessing, theme coordinating, and many other areas. Should you be one of the lucky committee members, you'll play an important part in one of the largest social events of the year! UNIVERSITY SING If you have a special interest in choral music, University Sing is the activity for you. Each year, every housing unit is invited to participate in choral ensemble work featuring groups composed of and directed by YOU, the students of the University. From a semifinal elimination night, a select group of ensembles is chosen to sing on the Sunday afternoon of Mother's Day Weekend. Following judging by qualified 20
