you through orientation, there are two fellows to guide the male-counterpart of the group. A few words of welcome will be given to all new students by prominent University administrators, and you'll all join in singing SUI pep songs. Transportation is provided to the faculty homes, where your leaders and advisers have planned special entertainment. Becaming acquainted with members of your group is one of the easiest ways to make new friends from different parts of the country. The east approach to Old Capitol is the origin of campus tours which leave every half hour on Tuesday, September 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The tours cover major points of interest on campus, ending at the main library where cokes will be served. The tours are fine opportunities to learn short cuts between your classes which you may think are impossible to reach in ten minutes. The Information Booth, located in front of Old Capitol, will be open from September 14 through September 20, to help you with your questions or problems. President and Mrs. Hancher are host and hostess for one of the highlights of your orientation program, an informal open house during the evenings of Tuesday, September 18, and Wednesday, September 19. New students have an opportunity to meet the president and his wife, other members of the administration, faculty members, and other students in this friendly informal manner. Your orientation group is assigned a time to visit their home, and you will go together as you did to your faculty adviser's home. Campus organizations will set up displays in the Main Lounge of the Union on Wednesday, September 19, to acquaint you with all the University's activities. A Matinee Dance in the River Room will be held, so spend your afternoon learning about campus extracurriculars and top it off with some dancing for relaxation before classes begin. To officially open the school year, an Induction Ceremony is held on the west steps, Old Capitol, 9:25 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20. Orientation is over; you are on your way to a happy successful year. Women's organizations on campus hold individual open houses to familiarize you with their purposes and programs for the year. Associated Women Students will be happy to have you sign up for committees that interest you at their open house on Thursday, September 27, in the River Room of the Union. To describe the "Y" projects to you, the YWCA is holding open house on October 2 in the River Room also. On September 25, the Women's Recreation Association will be sponsoring open house in the Women's Gym. Home Economics Club can tell you about their programs on October 3 in the Home Economics rooms at Macbride Hall. 11
