[emblem] INTRODUCING Enter the Star With stardust in your eyes and sawdust on the floor, you stand in the wings awaiting your cue. It's the opening night of a new play and it's your debut! The curtain rises, the stage is set, the characters are ready to portray their parts. You, the star, take your place, too, in the glow of floodlights. In the costume of a coed you make your entrance for the first time onto the stage of the campus at the State University of Iowa. We of the Associated Women Students would like to welcome you as you make your first appearance. We were once stagestruck and awed, as you may be. And now, although we are still stagestruck, the awe has melted away into new friendships, new experiences, and a wonderful chance to have another "home away from home." To answer a few of your questions, we hope this book can guide you as you become acquainted with your new home. The stage at Iowa is a big one. Sometimes it is a very confusing one, but that is only because it is a part of the bigger stage called life. Here our audience is our roommate or the fellow who sits next to us in chemistry, and our applause comes from playing our role to the best of our ability. 3
