Hawk-I Pep Club Hawk-I Pep Club forms the nucleus of the student cheering section at Iowa's home football games with its colorful card section. Additional activities of the group include preparing pep rallies, planning trips for out-of-town games, sponsoring post-game parties with Union Board, and making the Herky mascot costume. Work on sub-committees is a prerequisite for application for the following year's Pep Club Council. Chairmen for the activities are selected by outgoing Council members on the basis of previous work in the organization and personal interviews. Positions on the cheer leading team are open each year. Cheerleaders perform at football and basketball games, both home and away. They also lead pep rallies and help with the programs at Homecoming. An equal number of men and women participate on the squad. Music IOWA State University of Iowa If you are interested in music, the band, orchestra, and chorus in the University will be of special interest to you.
