[hand drawing to right] YWCA The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) is a service organization which sponsors a number of projects and activities, all open to you. Early in the fall the "Y" will hold an open house to acquaint you with its program and the various committees in which you'll be able to participate. The executive council, project chairmen, and commission chairmen comprise the "Y" cabinet who direct the program throughout the year. Chosen for the council in all-University elections were Nancy Roberson, president; Anne Fellows, vice-president; Sandy Bierbaum, secretary; Jackie McDonald, finance chairman, and Sugar Schilleter, Freshman "Y" adviser. Among the following projects and committees you are certain to find some especially slated to your own interests. FRESHMAN "Y"—This group will give you a chance to meet and work with the girls in your class. In addition to mass meetings, the Freshman "Y" sponsors a number of smaller fellowship groups which meet separately once a week. You will elect your own officers and plan your own projects, such as the Homecoming Mum Sale, although you work in conjunction with the Senior "Y" for several activities. If you are interested in a foothold in "Y" work, this is a good place for you to begin. MAJOR IN MARRIAGE—Every semester this committee sponsors a series of lectures by faculty members from the fields of sociology, medicine, religion, and psychology. Their topics include dating, engagement etiquette, religious problems related to marriage, and the psychological and physical aspects of marriage. WORLD RELATEDNESS—Members of the World Relatedness Committee try to promote friendly relations with foreign students at SUI and in other countries. Dinners at faculty homes and the annual book drive for financial aid in foreign countries are only two of the activities to further understanding. Also related to this committee is the commission on Christian Heritage. Interdenominational services at Thanksgiving in the Danforth Memorial Chapel and a series of morning chapel broadcasts over WSUI are held during Religious Emphasis Week. 26
