The Crafts Club will give you an opportunity to work with metal, leather and ceramincs. You need not have done craft work previously to become a member of the club. "Canoe Capers" is a popular WRA event held during the Mother's Day weekend. "Canoe Capers" are the all-University canoe races held on the Iowa River, with several types of races included. As soon as warm weather arrives, you and your friends will have a chance to practice your skills before entering one of the categories. Using the wrong end of a paddle and rowing with a broom are two of the novelties. Women's and mixed races are others categories in which you can participate. Intramurals is one of the largest programs within WRA. Teams from all the women's housing units compete in golf, bowling, tennis, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and swimming. At the end of the year, the residence which has gathered the largest number of points for taking first, second, or third places in the various tournaments is awarded a traveling trophy. Rifle Club, relatively new in WRA, has developed into an active group. Members participate in "telegraphic" meets with other schools. Iowa women send their scores to other colleges who have recorded their scores, and the team with the higher number of points wins the telegraphic meet. Started just last spring, the Camping Club will appeal to you who enjoy the outdoors. The organization goes on frequent cook-outs and hikes. 29
