The field is the campus of the State University of Iowa. and whether you're a transfer student or a beginning freshman, you're equally welcome. This is a game in which you'll be able to play many positions - some of them, simultaneously. Suppose we scout the field first and note the equipment and practice area. Be prepared to walk - for walk you will unless blessed (or cursed) with a car. leaving the dormitory, you will walk past the Chemistry, Dental. Geology and Law Buildings before you come to the Pentacrest. The golden dome of Old Capitol will reflect the same hot sun that makes you want to stop at the Iowa Memorial Union, to the right and down the hill past the Women's Gym for a Coke. But you'll limp on past the tennis courts and the Old armory, across the river to the Field House for registration. If you're in condition you might explore the town before you go back to the dorm for a welcome rest. To welcome you to SUI is to welcome you also to Iowa City. As college is a financial proposition, you'll be interested to know that Iowa City had two banks. Being a woman., your interest in clothes will be satisfied by the well stocked department stores. Recreational facilities include easily accessible parks, five movie theaters and drive in a skating rink, a ski lodge (30 miles away). and the municipal swimming pool. It's a friendly city, and as a temporary citizen you're most welcome. 3
