vorite Scottish airs in concert. This group is regularly scheduled for guest appearances including an European tour every fourth summer. Tryouts for these varied musical groups occur each fall and will be announced ahead of time in The Daily Iowan. IOWA MOUNTAINEERS Want to extend your exploration beyond the SUI campus? Well, how about enlisting with the Mountaineers, where fun and excitement await the adventurous nature lover. A part of their annual program is organized hikes, ski trips, horseback riding, and ice skating parties. For the fearless, a summer excursion is taken to the mountainous regions of the United States or occasionally to a foreign country. If you don't feel up to such rigorous activity, possibly you might like to join the rocking chair enthusiasts at the Mountaineers' regularly scheduled film lecture series. HAWK- I - PEP CLUB The beginning of classes each fall finds not only many new students on the campus, but a new football team as well. Rallying the entire student body behind this team are members of the Hawk-I-Pep Club with their pep rallies, publicity program and card section which goes into action during half time period of every home game. Direction of these areas of activity is in the hands of the Pep Council and its numerous student subcommittees. Aiding them in their pep projects are our SUI cheerleaders, clowns and famed Herky the Hawk. Fun is in store for all. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB If you want to become a more interesting and informed YOU, membership in the Home Economics Club is one answer. Typical programs for its monthly meetings have been: "European Travels", "Gift Suggestions for Men" and "Marriage Adjustments" An annual Baked Bean Supper, Christmas Party for Honors, Students and Advisers, and Open Houses are among the club's numerous projects. Membership is open to any interested coed. BIG SISTER Helping the severely handicapped children at the University Hospital can be as rewarding as it is fun for college coeds. You become a "big sister" to some little boy or girl and spend some of your free hours reading, playing or just watching television together once a week. It is a very satisfying and helpful experience to contribute your time in this way. The children are extremely happy to see you during each visit and accept you as a real "big sister." 22
