The Looks of You SUI's first impression of the woman you are will come from your appearance, so use good judgment and taste to make that impression favorable. It's especially important to remember that your outfits are all new to the campus, so don't toss out something old; we've never seen it before. You'll be well dressed for almost any event in a wool skirt and sweater (although Iowa City is still warm in September, we rush the season and wear wool right away). With bobby socks and tennis shoes, your sweater and skirt can take you to classes and meetings; with a change to flats and hose, you're ready for an evening date. If the weather turns warm during those early fall days a crisp blouse is definitely appropriate, and probably more comfortable, too. Matched sweater and skirt combinations, worn with flats, will be the perfect stand-bys for your weekend dates. A basic wool dress or suit will take you to Sunday dinner, church, teas, plays and concerts. if you choose a simple, versatile style, all the better you can change its appearance with different accessories. You'll want to bring a cocktail dress for all-University dances and formals; strictly formal attire is rarely seen at SUI. For protection against the elements, you'll need your trenchcoat or heavy wrap for wear on colder days. A blazer or car coat will serve you well for Saturday football games when the sun starts to dip behind the stadium walls. You'll find wool scarves, gloves and umbrella useful, and Iowa City winters usually call for snow boots for your walks to class. As a coed, you;ll need some comfortable, simple outfits for lounging in the dorms, spring and fall picnics, and other casual events. Bermudas, slacks [hand drawing of reflection in mirror] 8
