You Reach the Heights Your efforts to achieve don't go unrecognized at SUI; numerous honoraries are ready to welcome you when you've met their standards Your first recognition may come with an invitation to join Alpha Lambda Delta, freshman women's honorary which confers membership on those attaining a 3.5 (B+) grade average or better. (SUI grades on a 4-point scale. You'll receive 4 points for every hour of "A" 3 for every hour of "B" etc) Tapping for Mortar Board may climax your junior year. This group invites into membership each spring those junior women who have displayed not only above-average academic achievement during their preceding college years, but also leadership and service. These women present the annual Smarty Party. which recognizes coeds with a grade average of 3.25 or better for the previous semester. Phi Beta Kappa, one of the oldest and best-known of the honoraries, initiates second-semester seniors in liberal arts who rank in the top 10 percent of their class. Most departments and major fields at SUI recognize outstanding work among the undergraduate women in their fields with membership in honorary groups.
