Student Council You'll be represented in SUI's student government by your housing unit delegate to Student Council. In addition to its twenty-three members, drawn from men's and women's dormitories, married student housing, sororities and fraternities, and off-campus housing units, the Council welcomes student participation in its many committees and subcommittees. The Council functions in conjunction with the Student Body President - elected by all-campus vote during the spring elections - the Cabinet, and the Student Court. The group's meetings are open to the University community for discussion concerning such campus issues as parking restrictions, academic honesty, and seating for football games. In turn, members of the Council often sit in on University committees as representatives of student opinions and interests. Reaching all areas of student life, the Council operates in relation to the Orientation program, the Miss SUI Pageant, and the Central Party Committee selection procedure. It supervises all-campus elections, and its Court acts on student traffic appeals, as well as other Council cases. You may start out on a subcommittee, but your chances of working up to Student Body President are as good as anyone else's. Try it and see ! [hand drawing DAILY IOWAN home town daily] 18
