upperclassmen will act as orientation leaders for the program, and they're looking forward to helping you adjust to your new life at SUI. Though you're on the receiving end of the Orientation Program this year, you may be chosen to help other new students as a leader in your future years at SUI. AMERICAN RED CROSS One of the most rewarding and pleasurable aspects of AWS work is the American Red Cross College Unit's work with Veterans' Hospital patients. You'll get a feeling of accomplishment from helping with therapy of the veterans, and you'll probably have a tremendous time at the parties, as well. The unit plans five parties at the hospital during the year, each featuring fun, food, and entertainment. These are give simultaneously on three floors of the hospital. Essential to their success are volunteer hostesses who donate a few hours of their time during the evening of the part. if you participate in ARC work, you'll have lots of help - the patients themselves take pride in helping with decorations and other arrangements for the parties. MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND You can entertain your mother royally at the AWS-sponsored Mother's Day Weekend every year. With the assistance of a faculty advisory group, the Mother's Day Weekend Committee arranges a busy schedule of events to entertain parents visiting campus during this special weekend. Guided tours of campus departments, the Seals Water Show, and University Sing provide mothers and their whole families with fun. Highlighting the festivities is the annual Mother's Day Luncheon, at which the SUI Mother of the Year is presented. You'll feel closer to your mother after the weekend of fun you enjoy together next spring under the sponsorship of the AWS Mother's Day Weekend Committee. Tell your mom about it now ! UNIVERSITY SING Your voice may blend with those of other coeds in your housing unit next spring as the SUI campus prepares for University Sing. The six vocal groups surviving semifinal elimination vie for top honors in a two-hour competition presented as part of Mother's Day Weekend festivities. 26
