Union Board Engel notes in response to other side. Means to make it safe: "a cop-out if we go home" 1. Block roads to outsiders - 2. Use students & faculty to stay open * 3. Option for consciences - a compromise, recognizing worth of individual and integrity of institution. 4. By closing we have admitted we cannot answer our own problems & govern ourselves. (Bo says we don't govern ourselves now) 5. Maybe we have the staff to stay open even if others have had to close. 6. If we close, the political backlash will be unbearable. 7. Moratorium (How about guidelines? & controls) 8. Men's dorm: right wing say "get those damn arsonists." 9. If we close down, then mobilize for a new year - Control of campus if we close down entirely? Randy: No one has control of the situation. Senate: Statement passionate Koltner: this represents a [growing?] group
