17. The important thing to get out of all this is that the university is not neutral. It supports a repressive status quo by channeling students into the necessary jobs It supports the war in Vietnam and imperialism by its ROTC and research programs. It supports racism by teaching racist courses and training cops to crush ghetto rebellions. It supports the bosses by treating its own workers badly, by teaching courses on how to 'manage' workers, and by telling students that workers are bought off and reactionary. (content not self explaining) In short, the university is generally a pile of shit. It is also important to keep the university in perspective. It is only part of a system which represses, perverts, mutilates and tortures peoples' hopes for a better life all around the world. Struggles for reforms, whether within the university or of broader scope, are a dead end id not put in an anti-capitalist perspective. Desisive victories have been won, and the 'movement' is growing every day, every year. It is all accomplished by a very simple first stop - people getting together - to build revolutionary mass organization. Student Victories Out Of The Past #2 Anti-ROTC feeling flared on May 1. A large crowd siezed the Rec Center (which was paid for by student funds yet hadn't been opened to students) from a ROTC awards ceremony. Disruption of the Jr. Imperialists was totally successful!
