7 You've waited a long time for this day." (to first reader) 1ST READER "He was a good man and should have been returned years ago." 2ND READER "If you had more influence...heaven knows who might release. We all know of your prejudices...remember the shameful Adolph affair." 1ST SPECTATOR "This is going to be a lively session." 1ST READER "Mr. Lincolns' first defense, will be the character of the deceased." HEAD COUNSELOR "The sparks of a man's soul are not always commensurate with his deeds. Society is an animal which preys upon the weak. The weak are often left with only a life to protect. The savage is never blamed for being savage." 1ST READER "Perhaps...I shall have to ask, for a clarification of that ruling." HEAD COUNSELOR "Ask you may...but it has always been so." (PAUSE) Everyone is looking up...out of the darkness above the casket now comes into view of the whole Council. A raised platform has been placed and two counselors stand by to guide the descending casket to it's resting place.
