26 1ST READER "Our job is to make sure that no one else sees you." MR. LINCOLN "I understand now, my ambivalence. I once said "My policy is to have no policy." Now what kind of statement was that for a responsible administrator to make. How could I've stood behind words like that." 1ST READER "It was easy Mr. Lincoln (laughing) there was no Hearst Chain or Associated Press." MR. LINCOLN "You know I meant well...my directions at times were confusing (as Sandberg pointed out) but I meant well." 1ST READER "That we know Mr. Lincoln, your's is the seed that mankind needs. When the torch of life is passed, your germ shall issue in the free, non-nationalistic, genetically selected millenium of peace for all men. For the moment, we must survive the confrontation of this pragmatic dead society. We shall rely on your written words. I shall skillfully steer you toward the passages to be read. The council is made up of children, we should be able to fool them." (They rise and shake hands) CURTAIN FALLS
