CHAPTER I-PERSONAL CONDUCT I. Standard of Conduct. The standard of conduct for persons attending the University is the practice and usage of good society. The University expects every student to conduct himself at all times and on every occasion in accordance with good taste and to observe the regulations of the University and the laws of the city, state, and national government that apply to matters of conduct. II. Intoxicating Beverages. The possession or consumption of beer, wine, or other intoxicating beverages by any student in violation of University regulations{superscript 1} or the laws of the state of Iowa{superscript 2} s cause for dismissal or other penalties. III. Gambling. Gambling by any student in violation of University regulations{superscript 1} or the laws of the state of Iowa{superscript 3} is cause for disciplinary action. IV. Cheating. Any student found guilty of dishonesty in academic work is subject to dismissal from the University or to other penalties. Instructors in courses and deans of colleges are primarily responsible for the enforcement of this rule. V. Reporting Address or Change of Address. Each student is required to report his correct Iowa City or commuting address at the time of registration each semester or session. This reported address must be the student's actual place of residence, and will be the one to which all University correspondence will be sent. If any changes in residence is made during the semester or session, the new residence address must be reported within three days to the Office of the Registrar. Failure to comply with the above regulations is cause for cancellation of registration. VI. Destruction of Property and Raids. Any student found guilty of inciting to action or willfully participating in action resulting in destruction of property, or in unauthorized group activities-i.e., raids on women's residences-that may or may not be destructive, will be subject to dismissal from the University. VII. Mutilation or Theft of Library Materials. Any student mutilating library materials or taking them from the Library without proper authorization will be suspended or dismissed from the University. Such a misdemeanor is a violation of the laws of the state of Iowa.{superscript 4} VIII. Indebtedness A.
