ALL HOUSING UNITS WILL BE CLOSED AFTER THE 11:00 P.M. HOUR SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. Upperclass women, as well as freshmen women, are not permitted to leave their housing units after closing hours for women—11:00 p.m.—Sunday through Thursday. C. Summer—Sunday, June 9, 1963, through Sunday, September 1, 1963. 12:00 Midnight . . Sunday through Thursday, including examination and registration periods. 1:00 a.m. . . . Friday and Saturday Regular closing hours continue during vacation periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter). D. Since a student is expected to be in her housing unit BEFORE the closing hour, NO LATENESS will be permitted. ANY LATENESS which a student incurs will subject her to judiciary action. Such judiciary action may result in earlier closing hours for the student. IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY LATENESS, THE STUDENT SHOULD NOTIFY HER HOUSING UNIT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is a courtesy and does not mean the lateness will be excused. She must sign in immediately upon returning to her housing unit. E. Women students are not permitted to have keys to their residences. Houses must be locked by the house director.1 F. Unapproved overnight absences are cause for suspension from the University. II. Opening Hours for Women's Residences. Residences are opened at 6:30 a.m. each day. Students are not permitted to leave their residences between regular closing hours and 6:30 a.m. without special permission from the house director. III. Permission to Attend Cultural Functions. Occasionally, at the discretion of the Counselor to Women, permission may be granted to attend a function of general cultural interest in one of the nearby cities. The student returns to her housing unit as soon as possible after the close of the function. Since these permissions sometimes involve late night driving, a letter from the parents to the Counselor to Women is required IN ADVANCE of the functions before the student can be granted this permission. IV. Overnight Sign-Outs. A girl may sign out on weekends (Friday and Saturday nights) in accordancre with the wishes of her parents as indicated on a special travel permit sent by the Associated Women Students and the Counselor to Women. In order to sign out for one or two week days, special 1 House director is an all-inclusive term applying to (1) Head Dormitory Counselor, (2) Housemother, (3) Householder, or (4) her official assistant.
