IV. Scholarship Requirement for Active Membership. In order to enjoy the benefits of his fraternity each member must maintain a cumulative scholarship average based on all college work attempted which equals or surpasses the scholarship requirement for graduation in the college of his registration. A 1.8 cumulative average is the minimum average. Members who fail to meet these conditions shall be suspended until they again qualify for active participation in the chapter affairs. Members suspended under this rule shall not be allowed to live in the chapter house nor participate in any of the chapter affairs during the period of suspension. Cumulative averages shall be checked at the close of each academic year and used as a basis for determining chapter membership lists for the academic year beginning the following September. Chapter officers are required to submit their lists of eligible members to the Office of Student Affairs before the opening of school each fall. V. Regulations for Men's Residences A. Chaperons and Hours of Entertainment. No women guests may enter or remain in men's residences, except when authorized chaperons are present, and then only at times within the following schedule: Monday through Thursday—4:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Friday—4:30 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. Saturday—12:00 noon to 12:45 a.m. Sunday and University Holidays—10:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. B. Place of Entertainment. Entertainment of women guests in a men's residence shall be confined to the reception, dining, and recreation or lounge rooms of that residence. Women guests are not permitted in men's trailers or apartments. VI. Operation of Fraternities A. General Policy. Fraternity regulations are based upon a policy to— 1. Integrate the fraternity system into the general University student housing and group living program. University dormitories and fraternity houses are each to be considered as constituting an integral part of the general plan of University housing and every effort will be expended to insure full occupancy of all group living quarters whether University or fraternity owned. 2. Assure, insofar as is possible, solvent, successful, and effective operation on the part of each individual fraternity chapter as a housing unit and living group. 3. Maintain different types of living groups so that each student may have a choice of dormitory or fraternity group living as a part of his educational program in order that he may utilize non-classroom [15]
