B. The Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Committee on Student Life with reference to the All-University student program of dances and entertainments, and it shall serve as an emergency party committee in any instance approved by the Committee on Student Life. III. Selection of Members A. The Central Party and Entertainment Committee shall be chosen as follows: During the month of April of each year the executive committees of the Student Union Board, the Student Council and the outgoing Executive Committee of the Central Party and Entertainment Committee shall be convened by the Director of the Iowa Memorial Union and organized as a Central Party and Entertainment Committee Selection Board. The Board shall elect its own chairman and shall secure nominations for the Central Party and Entertainment Committee in the following manner: 1. Each housing unit on the campus shall be invited to nominate three students respectively of freshman, sophomore, and junior standing from the College of Liberal Arts, Business, Administration, Engineering, Nursing, and Pharmacy. A dental student in his third year out of high school may be nominated as of junior standing. Any student belonging to the freshman, sophomore or junior class, or any dental student in his third year out of high school may become a candidate for membership on the party committee by submitting a petition signed by twenty members of his or her class. 2. All nominations shall be filed at the Union Information Desk on or before a deadline day and hour which shall be established and announced by the Committee. 3 From nominations thus received the Selection Board shall choose three freshmen, four sophomores and five juniors who shall comprise the Central party and Entertainment Committee of twelve members, it being understood that each member of the committee must be in good standing in his or her college, and that no more than six members of the Committee may be of one sex IV. Term of Office. The Central Party and Entertainment Committee this chosen shall begin its duties as of the first day of the summer session following its appointment. Any vacancies during the term of office shall be filled by election by the Committee from the last previous list of nominations. V.Officers. The officers of the Central Party and Entertainment Committee shall be a president, vice president and treasurer elected by majority vote of the members, and a secretary appointed by the president. VI. Advisers. The Director of the Union and a staff member designated by him shall function as official advisers to the Committee. [28]
