III. Penalty for Misuse of Cards. Students are warned that the Student identification Cards are non-transferable. Any cards found being illegally used may be withheld and persons to whom the cards are issued may be deprived of their use and be subject to disciplinary action. V. Replacement of Lost Cards. In the event Permanent University Number Cards and/or Certificate of Registration Cards are lost, they may be replaced upon application to the Office of the Registrar. A fee of $4.00 is charged for the replacement of each. CHAPTER XIII- STUDENT AUTOMOBILE REGISTRATION AND PARKING REGULATIONS The car registration and parking program at the University is designed to make use of available parking space in the best interest of the total University and to achieve as equitable allocation as possible of parking privileges to students on the basis of residence in relation to distance from the campus. the parking system imposes an obligation upon faculty, staff and students to know and observe automobile and parking regulations, and a system of fines is levied for violations. Automobiles are not a necessity at the University and students are urged not to bring cars to campus. Those who do have cars will receive instructions regarding regulations when they register. I. Car Registration Every student who owns or operates an automobile within the Iowa City area must register the vehicle with the University during registration for classes or within 48 hours after bringing the automobile to Iowa City. A $3.00 annual registration fee is charged, or $1.50 for a semester and $.75 for the summer session. At the time of registration, the student is given an identification decal which must be displayed according to instructions given. II. Parking Privileges Students who live outside the campus area, as defined by the University Parking Committee, may apply for parking privileges in lots designated for restricted parking.The charge is $9.00 annually, or $4.50 by the semester and $2.25 for the summer session.
