Hours for Guests BEGIN: Monday through Thursday 4:30 p.m. Friday 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and University holidays 10:00 a.m. Hours for callers END fifteen minutes before closing hours. III. Overnight Sign-outs. Women may sign out on weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) in accordance with the regular opening and closing hours. Any overnight absence without proper sign-out is cause for suspension from the University. If circumstances or unusual travel arrangements necessitate longer absence or later hours, special permission must be sought WELL IN ADVANCE from your house director and/or the counselor to Women. IV. Privileged Hours. Women who are twenty-one or more years of age and/or juniors or seniors may request permission to participate in the Privileged Hours Program at a required orientation meeting. Parents of junior or senior women must grant permission for their daughter's participation. This Program is established on the assumption that these women are capable of regulating their own hours. Each woman is obligated to use the privilege with thoughtfulness and discretion. CHAPTER VI—STUDENT MOTOR VEHICLE AND BICYCLE REGISTRATION AND PARKING REGULATIONS The registration and parking program for motor vehicles and bicycles at the University is designed to make use of available parking space in the best interest of the total University and to achieve as equitable allocation of parking privileges as possible to students on the basis of residence in relation to distance from the campus. The parking system imposes an obligation upon faculty, staff, and students to know and observe registration and parking regulations, and a system of fines is levied for violations. Automobiles are not a necessity at the University and students are urged not to bring cars to the campus. Those who do have cars will receive instructions regarding regulations when they register. I. Car Registration Every student who owns or operates an automobile or motor vehicle within the Iowa City area must register the vehicle with the University during registration for classes or within forty-eight hours after bringing the [12]
