Parking Privileges Freshman students are not eligible to purchase parking permits and are prohibited from parking in any University-owned space, including the ramp, metered spaces, and storage lots, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Other students, who live outside the campus area as defined by the University Parking Committee, are eligible to purchase parking permits for student parking areas at a cost of $40.00 annually, $20.00 per semester, or $10.00 for the summer session. The cost of the permit includes the registration fee. Temporary permits for not more than ten days may be obtained for $.50. Students living in University residence halls may apply through their housing units for a parking privilege in the residence parking areas. These are assigned on the basis of a priority system and the fee is $40.00 annually, $20.00 by the semester, or $10.00 for the summer session and charges are included in the regular monthly billing to the student. In the University Married Student housing areas, parking space is provided for each residence and the student-rentor pays only the car registration fee. There are several open parking and storage areas in outlying portions of the campus which can be used with the payment of the registration fee. III. Bicycles All student and faculty bicycles are to be parked in racks provided on the campus; failure to do this shall subject the operator to a $1.00 fine for improper parking. Bicycles are not to be ridden on campus sidewalks. IV. Violations Students and faculty are expercted to know and observe state motor vehicle and bicycle laws, University parking regulations, and Iowa City ordinances. Failure to comply will result in fines which are assessed to the student's account in the Business Office. Students may appeal any registration or parking fine to the Student Traffic Court. Complete registration and parking information is given in the regulations booklet provided students with University registration material. CHAPTER VII—STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS The Permanent University Number Card and the Certificate of Registration Card together constitute the Student Identification Card for any session. [13]
